Mike Meursing and His Son Build a House in a Day with the Corazon Group

Mike and his son went to build a house in Nuevo Milenio, Mexico last Saturday. They went with the Corazon group (http://corazon.civicore.com/) who organize about 40-50 builds per year for families are in need of basic shelter. The group has a network in Mexico where people in need can volunteer to make the community better and their volunteer hours can be traded for basic supplies, clothing, food, etc.  The local board decides who gets the house based on their needs and their contribution to the community.  The house and toilet for this project were for a single mom with two kids and it was 24 feet by 16 feet wide with a small loft and toilet area. It was a very heart felt moment when the keys were turned over to this family who very grateful for their new home. It was also impressive to see 20-25 people work together and accomplish this in one day of hard work.  Now that we know that there is a concrete floor, you can bet that we will be donating some epoxy flooring for the next build!
